Yes, we can certainly make this a topic of future VC API calls. In fact, we discussed part of this during the last VC API call. The modifications to the VC API are fairly small (e.g., you can configure an issuer instance to use a specific set of "mandatory to disclose claims" for a specific VC, and you can send in the "selective disclosure claims" using the selective disclosure derivation endpoint.
