Dear SSI-developers Would you be interested in getting a grant for further developing your SSI component or solution? The European Horizon 2020 NGI eSSIF-Lab<https://essif-lab.eu/> programme has two open calls<https://essif-lab.eu/open-calls/>, with grants of up to 155 000 € (9 months projects). The calls are open to European innovators. They focus on the development and interop testing of open-source SSI components, and SSI assurance community building, respectively. Please check the call-specific eligibility criteria. [cid:image006.png@01D74B0F.A8255310]<https://essif-lab-infrastructure-oriented.fundingbox.com/> Apply for a grant at eSSIF-Lab Infrastructure-oriented Open Call <https://essif-lab-infrastructure-oriented.fundingbox.com/> You will be cooperating with earlier subgrantees, who already built other SSI components<https://essif-lab.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/essif-booklet_last-version.pdf>. Your goal is not only to develop and interop-test your component, but also to get it commercially applied by eSSIF-Lab subgrantees from the second business-oriented call<https://essif-lab.eu/open-calls/> and others. This third and final round focusses on open-source solutions that protect citizens. * Solutions for guardianship and representation<https://sovrin.org/wp-content/uploads/Guardianship-Whitepaper.pdf> * Solutions to protect citizens against coercion<https://blockchain.tno.nl/blog/verify-the-verifier-anti-coercion-by-design/> * Solution that protects communication privacy/confidentiality<https://blockchain.tno.nl/blog/self-sovereign-communication/> * Cryptographically enforceable issuer policies * Tooling for the governance of SSI assurance communities<https://www.researchgate.net/publication/348325716_Decentralized_SSI_Governance_the_missing_link_in_automating_business_decisions> (see below) * Solutions that aid the integration of multiple SSI technologies * Solutions that aid the interoperability between different SSI components Other proposals are welcome too. Surprise us! Please note the deadline: Monday 7 July 2021, 17:00 CEST (Brussels local time). [cid:image007.jpg@01D74B0F.A8255310]<https://essif-lab-second-business-oriented.fundingbox.com/> Apply for a grant at eSSIF-Lab 2nd Business-oriented Open Call <https://essif-lab-second-business-oriented.fundingbox.com/> You are challenged to develop and demonstrate a working SSI solution for a real-world, domain-oriented problem or opportunity, in prioritized eSSIF-Lab areas (Health Tech, e-Government and Education) or in the Open Disruptive Innovation track (for innovative proposals in other related areas). Your solution would use components from earlier eSSIF-Lab subgrantees<https://essif-lab.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/essif-booklet_last-version.pdf>, demonstrating their practical applicability. Your solution should include the further development of your SSI assurance community (see below) in terms of technology, governance and business model. The eSSIF-Lab program will support you with funding, previously-developed SSI components and dedicated business mentoring. SSI Assurance Community Any viable SSI solution has a group of issuers, holders and verifiers who agree on the semantics and assurances of the verifiable credentials that are issued, presented and verified in the context of that SSI solution. Such agreement needs to be coordinated: technical (semantics of the verifiable credentials, procedures for accreditation of issuers and verifiers, maintenance of documentation and infrastructure), legal/governance (development and maintenance of associated agreements and procedures), and business (business model for this coordination, as well as for the use of the SSI solution). We use the term “SSI Assurance Community” for such coordination between issues, holders and/or verifiers), see also https://www.researchgate.net/publication/348325716_Decentralized_SSI_Governance_the_missing_link_in_automating_business_decisions Please note the deadline: Monday 7 July 2021, 17:00 CEST (Brussels local time).
