RE: Tim Berners-Lee: He Created the Web. Now He’s Out to Remake the Digital World.

Here's a Inrupt webinar from a few days ago that I also found helpful ...especially the Q&A that starts about 20-30 minutes into the video....

Yes, but will let Tim share his views directly :)

I assume you're referring to DID.

If I may informally say, the general view of the W3C Solid CG [1] is that while DID is in the scope of the Solid "ecosystem", we haven't quite worked out all angles [2]. There are different paths for interop eg. broadening the definition of WebID, making WebID compatible with some DIDs (did:web?) It'd be great to get more input in order to make this happen.

I'm a member of both [3][4].

I've been following CCG and related CGs' work to the point of better understanding possible areas for interop. Will make effort to be more active here.

My simplistic view based on what I've seen in the CGs is that there are several orthogonal specs that can be potentially loosely coupled.

Aside: Inrupt is using the VC data model in its products.

The Solid CG has some work items (others can be proposed and taken up) for the ecosystem eg. the Solid protocol, authentication, authorization, application interoperability, among other areas [5].

If there are topics this CG would like to explore together or find areas that we can better isolate or glue together, it can be here or in the Solid CG. All welcome.
