Hi all, As we start 2019 planning, the chairs are clarifying various CCG processes. We identified 2 important processes the chairs need to tighten up: proposing a new work item and closing a work item. The (recently updated) work item page ( https://github.com/w3c-ccg/community/blob/master/work_items.md) shows the current known status of each work item, including areas where the above process gap is blocking. We are still iterating on these processes in the New W3C-CCG Process document <https://docs.google.com/document/d/1vj811aUbs8GwZUNo-LIFBHafsz4rZTSnRtPv7RQaqNc/edit#>, but we can optimize for unblocking the community with a topological ordering like this: 1. Move forward proposed work items: We have github issues tracking some, but we need all proposers to follow the "New Work Item" process in the new draft CCG process <https://docs.google.com/document/d/1vj811aUbs8GwZUNo-LIFBHafsz4rZTSnRtPv7RQaqNc/edit#heading=h.i2v9iagxg4em> - NOTE: The major gap I observe in the current proposed work items is identifying owners (i.e. people with github aliases, not organizations). 2. Chairs need to complete closing process (BLOCKING #3) 3. Owners need to follow work item closing process for items marked "Needs close process" 4. Chairs, owners need to work together to figure out next steps for everything in an UNKNOWN state We will start working through these (with owners and on CCG calls) starting tomorrow. Stay tuned.
