RE: Collaborate on a concept map for DIDs based on DID Primer

In particular, I’d like to know how a Verifier entity interacts with the Subject, the DID, and the process of verifying cryptographically the identity information from the subject (or retrieved from the service endpoints). And where that id info is.

(apologies if my question seems out-of-touch with DIDS, I’ve been out of touch on the topic for a little while)

Hi folks - yes let's do a second session.

The DID concept map is very incomplete - we worked through a bunch of entities and flagged a bunch for refinement.

David and Pindar - which time zones are you in? Any particular time preference?

I'm Pacific Daylight Time UTC -7 || BST -8

I second that. I also was not able to make it, and wish I had.
Is the “subject” the only entity? I appears to be so in the map.
Does a did record only contain a key and a Did Document value?

+1 Andrew's session on the DID concept map was both fun and very useful in clarifying things.

A huge high-five to Andrew for leading us through this DID concept map work. He has made me a complete convert to concept maps—his work in Helsinki on a concept map for the Sovrin glossary was similarly enlightening—particularly on the highly abstract concepts underlying digital identity.

The session also definitely highlighted work we need to do in the spec to clean up and align terminology. I look forward to doing that in a "DID spec finalization push" in November given that the rest of October is a sprint to TPAC and IIW (I still wish they were not the same week).

BTW, for any CCG members coming to IIW, Mike Lodder and I are planning on holding a "DID Open Issues" session there to review anything on the open issues list in preparation for the DID spec finalization push in November. Please do join us for an hour of concentrated work.

A well-attended and productive call today.

The DID Spec concept map is better than when we started & we worked through some issues that will help improve the spec text (Drummond has the notes on that).

The concept map - work in progress - is here:

Note that there are many areas needing more work and refinement - but this is a great start

As discussed on the ccg call today - I'd like to conduct a collaborative working session this week to develop a concept map for DIDs, based on the text of the DID Primer and DID Spec.

Similar to the work that Ouri Poupko and I did for Verifiable Credentials at RWOT.
