Hello Everyone, Given this community's interest in DIDs, VCs, JSON-LD and Strong Authentication, the Startup companies in your midst (whether you are US based or International) may find the following opportunity to be of interest. Best Regards, - Anil Anil John Technical Director Silicon Valley Innovation Program Science and Technology Directorate US Department of Homeland Security Washington, DC, USA anil.john@hq.dhs.gov<mailto:anil.john@hq.dhs.gov> The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) Silicon Valley Innovation Program (SVIP), on behalf of DHS Operational Components, invests in startup companies from across the nation and around the world to adapt, develop and harness cutting-edge capabilities that are commercially sustainable while simultaneously meeting the needs of DHS Operational Components and Programs. [DHS.ST.SVIP.jpeg] DHS Operational Components, such as U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) etc., currently issue and/or validate and verify credentials (entitlements, attestations, licenses and certifications) for a variety of purposes including travel, citizenship and immigration status, employment eligibility, supply chain security and more. Current credentials are typically paper-based and are susceptible to loss, destruction, forgery, and counterfeiting. This SVIP Call i.e. Product Development Funding Opportunity for Startup Companies, is exploring the feasibility and utility of applying Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) to the digital issuance of currently paper based credentials in order to enhance their security, ensure their interoperability, and prevent their forgery & counterfeiting. It reflects the needs of DHS Operational Components and includes a broad range of illustrative use cases such as: * Citizenship, Immigration and Employment Authorization (USCIS) * Identity Documents for Travel (TSA) * Tribal Identity Documents for Travel (TSA & USCIS) * Identity of Organizations and Organizational Delegates (CBP) * Cross-Border Oil Import Tracking (CBP) * Origin of Raw Material Imports (CBP) Register to Attend the SVIP Industry Day (11 Dec, 2018 in Menlo Park, CA, USA) to hear details regarding the Business, Technical and Program aspects of this Call, and to have your questions answered by SVIP, CBP, TSA and USCIS Representatives (Registration Details in the SVIP Call) Call Details & Application Form @ https://go.usa.gov/xPGsr DHS S&T SVIP Info & Eligibility Criteria @ https://www.dhs.gov/science-and-technology/svip
