Hi everyone, Please share or blog about this public facing virtual summit about decentralized ID as soon as possible: *https://businessofblockchain.com/web/virtual-summits/blockchain-id/* The event happens on 7/24 and is a free half day webinar series to bring awareness about DIDs to the market. This is a significant outreach effort, as the conference producer GSMI has a decent mailing list as well as over 20 media sponsors that represent millions of people, directly interested in crypto/blockchain. They have already committed capital and resources to support our event, including professional post production and a high production value bandwidth/webinar platform that can support 1000 participants. However, event publishers are like book publishers in that they need to see "traction" before committing more serious resources... they need to see that our loosely affiliated network can transition into a platform, which allows us to demonstrate the ability to get market traction for ideas that are worth sharing. The potential upside is real and very promising - they're poised to produce more webinars, maybe a physical conference on decentralized ID, and market facing support through their channels to turn decentralized ID into the "next big thing". Also, this increases our access to customers and investors, so we want to put our best foot forward here. If we do things right, we can propel this into a tipping point for the DID movement. However, we really need for each and everyone one of you to participate in making this happen. What the CCG will get out of this is the mailing list, which the chairs of the group will manage. This is a digital commons that could serve CCG, but we must manage it carefully, to insure it thrives. Plus, whether we're ready or not, it's a first impression for DIDs to the world at large, so we want to make a good first impression. What YOU (personally) will get out of it are: more opportunities for all of us to speak to a larger audience – day 2 of this event is pending how well Day 1 goes and will be focused on crypto and the social impact of DIDs. Plus, we're assembling a repository of white papers and materials to give to attendees, and you can submit your white paper to a curated collection of reading materials. Speakers for Day 1 include these members of our community: * Daniel Buchner, Senior PM - Leading Decentralized Identity, Microsoft * Christopher Allen, Blockchain Security & Decentralized Identity Standards Architect & Advisor * Drummond Reed, Chief Trust Officer, Evernym * Kim Hamilton Duffy, CTO Learning Machine * Manu Sporny, CEO DigitalBazaar and Veres. One * Dr. Jonathan Holt, Assistant Professor at Vanderbilt University, CEO TranSendX * Phil Windley, Chair, Sovrin Foundation * Alka Gupta, Co-Founder & President, Global ID * Rouven Heck, Digital Identity/uPort Co-Founder & Project Lead, Consensys * Brian McSweeney. Chairman, Chlu The agenda is: 13:00 EST - The Decentralized Future: The Next Big Thing is Here 14:00 EST - Decentralized Identifiers in Healthcare, Fintech, IoT 15:00 EST - The DID and the DONTs: Decentralized ID 101 16:00 EST - Smarter Smart Contracts: Next Generation VMs, Verifiable Credentials, and Decentralized Reputation How YOU can participate: 1.
