Yes, although I'd suggest that we can't have it both ways. We cannot
achieve everything that both proposals are proposing because a good
chunk of the decision is picking from two incompatible alternatives.
We're going to have to compromise... which is what standards are all
about. :)

That said, I don't think the extremes of either proposal are great,
either. If folks dig their heels in on one proposal over the other,
that's going to be bad as well (failure to standardize).

So, bad outcomes would be:

1. Pick one proposal, ignoring the other (mob rule).
2. Support both approaches (debate avoidance).

Both are a failure to standardize.
