Hi all, Drummond asked that I propose a set of updates based on the discussion we had in the group last week. These changes attempt to simplify the spec by moving to: * Authentication and Authorization (vs. Ownership and Control) * Proofs (vs. just Keys and Signatures) * Decomposing Service Discovery * Capabilities-based Security Model These changes, if accepted by the group, would go a very long way toward resolving every issue we've triaged here: https://github.com/w3c-ccg/did-spec/issues/21 If you want to look at the proposed spec changes, they are here: https://msporny.github.io/did-spec/ If you want to comment on the line-by-line changes, you can do so here: https://github.com/w3c-ccg/did-spec/pull/22 I want to be very clear that the updates probably contain errors where the old spec text overlaps with the new spec text. I just simply didn't have the time this weekend to comb through every paragraph to ensure that the new language matches up with the old language, so please keep that in mind while reading through. If something doesn't make sense, assume it's an error in the spec text that needs to be fixed. The important bits are the examples... I'm pretty sure all of those represent the current state of thinking. This spec text is being put forward as a discussion item for our upcoming Tuesday call. -- manu -- Manu Sporny (skype: msporny, twitter: manusporny, G+: +Manu Sporny) Founder/CEO - Digital Bazaar, Inc. blog: Rebalancing How the Web is Built http://manu.sporny.org/2016/rebalancing/
