A positive vote would see our work go to the next stage, a negative vote would have set us back a year or more. So, the stakes were pretty high for today. It was a nail-biter, lots of discussion and negotiation around verifiable claims throughout the entire day. It felt like it wasn't going to happen when we went into the voting stage. The final vote was initiated during the last 60 seconds of the Web Payments Interest Group meeting. The final vote was something like 20 to 0 with a handful of people abstaining. We did it! Thanks to everyone who has helped us get this far! It was really great to see everyone's hard work pay off in the end. We're on to the next leg of the process - drafting a charter and set of minimal use cases and socializing that among the people that might join the work (and the people that might oppose the work). We have roughly 2 weeks to prep something to circulate at the W3C Advisory Committee Meeting at the end of March, so we're going to have to roll up our sleeves and put in some solid work starting next Tuesday. But first - make sure to celebrate - this is really great news! Congrats! An awesome amount of work went into this.
