How to help people who need to take some in-person activity and turn it to
online? 

I don't think a long process to make a document and publish it will be
helpful.

Some way people can contribute and moderators can moderate, etc.

It seems like this could be set up quickly, which is good. 

The only place I see these are old interest groups. Has reddit and
stackoverflow and social media taken over?

Is there something like this already? 

 

I'm especially interested in hearing from someone who does this kind of
forum setup as their day job
