With one exception (discussed below) I am satisfied that the WCAG working group has correctly interpreted, and resolved to my satisfaction, the issues raised in my comments on the May 2007 public working draft. When I wrote my comments, I did not consider the exception detailed under guideline 1.1 in relation to CAPTCHA to be an acceptable compromise, there being no such exception in WCAG 1.0. Nothing in the working group's response to this comment provides any grounds for altering this view, and the working group's stance on this issue remains a retrogressive step in regard to the level of accessibility afforded by the guidelines. Consequently, I cannot endorse such a compromise and the working group's decision to add an informative note to the draft explaining the situation does not address the issue that I raised, which goes to the normative content of the document as specified in the guidelines and success criteria.
