COGA: Summary, action item, and minutes for October 6th meeting

Hi, folks, here is a (human-generated!) summary of the October 6th COGA
task force meeting, plus an action item and a link to the minutes. Thanks
again to EA for scribing!

*WCAG 3 update*
Julie gave the group an update on the WCAG 3 editors week she attended last
week. Highlights include:

   - Each requirement now includes testing, at least one method, and tags
(that will be useful in the near future when we dig into possible
   conformance models).
   - Each assertion now follows a template that lists what needs to be
included in the public assertion and recommends more specific documentation
   for organizations to keep internally.
   - Each set of guidelines now includes user needs.
   - We also did some streamlining/consolidating as well as adding new
   items and removing duplicates.

The AG chairs want individuals to use a templated spreadsheet to go through
the new version and provide feedback.

   - Julie will share more details about this WCAG 3 exercise in a separate
   email.

*New W3C logo*
The group discussed the new logo and the press release
<https://www.w3.org/press-releases/2025/new-logo/> that explains the
thinking that went into the abstract design.

*3rd V2 pattern: Use clear visible labels
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1uAVRkNIgd3XlUIGQ6Gq-ZOcnwsFvIM9UJ1dNyHq8NSQ/edit?pli=1&tab=t.bzlxq1ykahxq#heading=h.pcu5m13uuzk>*
The editors still need to align on this migrated pattern, but the group
discussed a few issues:

   - User stories: The group decided it's OK if a user stories is not part
of a related persona. This means we can add a user story to this pattern
about a user with severe mental illness and/or schizophrenia that Rashmi
and Lisa discussed in a separate doc.
   - The Global Inclusion group flagged two examples about headers that
seem to be beyond the scope of this pattern, which focuses on labels for
controls/interactive elements. The group decided the examples about
headings should be moved elsewhere in V2.

*Action item*
If COGA folks have time this week, please review the full V2 pattern for Use
clear visible labels
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1uAVRkNIgd3XlUIGQ6Gq-ZOcnwsFvIM9UJ1dNyHq8NSQ/edit?pli=1&tab=t.bzlxq1ykahxq#heading=h.pcu5m13uuzk>
and
use margin comments to make suggestions. (The pattern will also be sent out
in a call for consensus (CfC) after the editors align on wording.)

   - *Deadline:* End of day Monday, October 13th
   - *Priorities:* If you need to choose between reviewing this pattern and
participating in the WCAG 3 excercise (a separate email will be sent about
this), please prioritize the WCAG 3 exercise, thank you!
