Another aspect is that the converse also applies when it comes to aural information should also be available in text form. Although some cognitive disabilities affect reading skills, auditory processing can also be affected. A main point with cognitive disabilities is that although a person may be affected on multiple information inputs, the key is to provide enough opportunities for that person to bring their relative personal strengths to bear. I know a few people with dyslexia who consider their verbal skills (and by this, they mean text/reading) to be far better than their listening skills (which is why they despise text-to-speech).
