The above link points to the potential for AI to be used to influence individual consumer’s purchasing intentions, which can be seen as an extension of personalised ads.  This is likely to result in corrective measures as we have seen in relation to cookies and tracking. More worrying to me is the potential AI offers to authoritarian states to monitor and change people’s behaviour.

This shows the potential for using LLMs to check the output of other LLMs, and more generally this could also be applied to moderating social media and even providing immediate feedback as users compose their posts.   Businesses offering access to LLMs and social media should be held responsible for adherence to applicable legislation in each jurisdiction.  That may or may not require fact checking ...
