RE: Few words on each of us

In 2000 I co-founded and, for the final six years of my career, I co-chaired the U.S. federal government-wide XML community of practice.  Now more than six years into “retirement,” I still maintain the content on the xml.gov site <http://xml.fido.gov/>  as a volunteer.  However, I spend the bulk of my “free” time working on the StratML standard <http://xml.fido.gov/stratml/index.htm>  (ANSI/AIIM 21:2009 & 22:2011).

 

One of the problems with strategic plans is that they have been treated as static documents, to be updated only infrequently (e.g., every three to five years).  Accordingly, they have failed to keep pace with changing realities and, thus, have often not been taken seriously.  

 

Among the purposes of the StratML standard <http://xml.fido.gov/stratml/index.htm#DefinitionPurposes>  is to make strategic plans more dynamic, and as changes occur, it would be good to have an open, standardized means of keeping track of them natively, in XML.
