Hi Alan,

There is no precise answer to your question.

In your case, are the new properties ones that would make sense for SoftwareSourceCode? then they can be suggested as extensions to schema.org as new properties for that type.

For FormalParameter, if there is nothing already in schema.org then we would need to create a new type for that.
