Arabic WCAG2.1 - W3C Final review period

Thank you very much for this.

I have gone through the WCAG 2.1 Arabic translation. Kindly find some minor comments below:

1.     Overall, the translation of the main concepts is very clear and makes sense from an Arabic language perspective.

2.     The document needs to go through thorough proofreading. For example, below are some spotted typos:

a.     in section 0.3 line 5 ( نشخيصية )

b.     in section 2.2 Success Criterion 2.2.2 (يُُسمح)

c.     in section 2.5 success criterion 2.5.5 (متواجذ)



3.     The usage of different synonyms

a.     Some words maybe better expressed differently (this of course needs to be dicussed by the different team member. Here I am only including my suggestion. For example, 1.1. line one states

توفير نص بديل لأي محتوى غير نصي. بحيث يمكن تحويل هذه البدائل إلى أشكال أخرى يحتاجها المستخدمون، مثل الطباعة بحروف كبيرة أو بطريقة برايل، أو الكلام المنطوق، أو الرموز، أو لغة مبسطة.

The termأشكال could be better replaced by نماذج

This term is, of course, reoccurring throughout the text. Thus if such a change is applied, reviewing the readability of all other sentences in which it occurred is highly important.



b.     Some words have different synonyms in Arabic in various Arab countries. For example, in Success Criterion 3.1.5, the following term is used to refer to lower secondary education level

 التعليم الإعدادي

However, in some Arab countries, this level is referred to it as التعليم المتوسط

4.     The word Pixel is sometimes written in Arabic and sometimes in English. For example, in success criteria number 1.4.10, it was written in English, while in success criteria number 2.5.5, it is written in Arabic.

5.     Some web links will lead to a non-Arabic page, such as in web link in success criteria number 5.2.5
