2014 f2f meetings

Dear all,

One topic which has been mentioned in recent teleconferences, but not addressed in depth, is where/when we want to hold our next face to face meeting.

Most of the group members have participated in at least one of our past f2f meetings and I will hopefully not need to point out how important and effective those meetings are, in spite of the hassle and cost of travel.

My thoughts so far:

1. I’d like the next face to face meetings to be dedicated to clearing issues, especially in preparation for “last call” publications of our two specs.

2. There are two dates in the W3C calendar we could choose to piggyback on - the AC meeting (8-10 June in Cambridge, MA, USA) and the TPAC (27-31 Oct in Santa Clara, CA, USA) - the latter where we are expected to be anyway.

3. TPAC notwithstanding, there can be no face-to-face without hosts. So if we want to hold a f2f before TPAC, we need a member (or friend of the WG) to host us.

4. Our group is not really progressing at breakneck speed at the moment and I believe having 2 face to face meetings this year will help us get a lot done.

Any thought, opinions on time and location, and/or tentative offers to host?

Thanks,
Olivier
