I agree (on principle - which method to use, and what transition time to 
use is still debatable). I think that the best way here is to define the 
assignment of the value attribute as a call to one of the methods, and 
remove wording such as "The parameter can be set immediately to a 
particular value using the value attribute.". Let's make it clear that 
setting the value attribute is just an alias for calling another method.
