+1 to the statement, listing her as an editor, and any other measures to honor her memory. Janina, thank you my friend for putting down in words how we feel. A dedication in the ARIA 1.2 specification would be very appropriate. As we are not yet in PR I don’t see why we couldn’t insert this into the PR and the Recommendation for ARIA 1.2. I also think we should add Carolyn as an editor for 1.2. She has done the work of an editor for years so this is only appropriate. Let’s discuss more when I get back from vacation. —James. ________________________________ From: Ku, JaEun Jemma <jku@uic.edu <mailto:jku@uic.edu> > Sent: Wednesday, February 23, 2022 8:17:26 PM To: Sina Bahram <sina@sinabahram.com <mailto:sina@sinabahram.com> >; 'James Craig' <jcraig@apple.com <mailto:jcraig@apple.com> >; James Nurthen <nurthen@adobe.com <mailto:nurthen@adobe.com> > Cc: 'ARIA Working Group' <public-aria@w3.org <mailto:public-aria@w3.org> > Subject: Re: Sad news about Carolyn I support Sina’s suggestion. ARIA Authoring Practice Guide(APG) working group briefly discussed this topic<https://www.w3.org/2022/02/22-aria-apg-minutes.html#t01> to honor her dedication to ARIA APG. As you may be aware of, Carolyn contributed greatly to APG 1.2 as the accessibility reviewer and tester of APG examples. I’m feeling gratitude for having to gotten to work with her via this group but also communicate offline with her this past year. Question, if I may, is there anything we can do via the WG to honor her incredible commitments? Is there a dedication section in the standard (can/should there be?), a W3C scholarship dedicated to accessibility/disability, anything else? Unsung hero doesn’t come close, but it’s all I got right now. Hugs, Sina President, Prime Access Consulting, Inc.
