Dear Advisory Committee Representative,
Chairs,

The Director is pleased to announce the rechartering of the Accessible
Rich Internet Applications (ARIA) Working Group:
https://www.w3.org/2022/02/aria-charter

The group is chartered through 31 January 2024.

The mission of the ARIA Working Group is to enhance the accessibility of
web content through the development of supplemental attributes,
including roles, states, and other properties, that can be applied to
native host language elements and exposed via platform accessibility APIs.

Because the charter changes to the 2020 Patent Policy, all participants
must rejoin the group to confirm their acceptance of the IP
requirements. Please use the following form to join the group. The form
will also instruct you how to nominate participants:
https://www.w3.org/groups/wg/aria/join

Please consider diversity when proposing people to participate in W3C
groups. Representation from a wider group of people, especially people
from under-represented groups, is vital for creating web standards that
meet the needs of the wider web community.

The Working Group chair is James Nurthen (Adobe). Team Contact is
Michael Cooper and Ruoxi Ran for a total of 0.4 FTE.

More information about the ARIA Working Group can be found on its homepage:

------------------------------

We called for charter review on 19 November, 2021:
https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/w3c-ac-members/2021OctDec/0034.html

Thanks to the 18 Members who provided input:
https://www.w3.org/2002/09/wbs/33280/2021-11_aria-charter/results

15 reviewers supported the charter as is, 2 suggested changes, and 1
abstained. There were no objections. In response to comments, the nature
of the group's role in test tool development was clarified, and a
liaison to the Publishing WG updated to the EPub 3 WG.
