RE: Agenda: ARIA WG Meeting - 2 April 2020

Thanks for all of this info on Zoom, James. Would it please be possible to do three things?

 

#1: your link says “join the zoom meeting”, which is very similar if not identical to the link Zoom sends out, so I kept avoiding clicking it, and I was searching for the link to go get the password, even though it was right there, and you even pointed out, right after this paragraph, but if we could maybe name that link something like “meeting info on w3c’s website” or whatever, just to make that explicit, it may help others in the future. It also may avoid someone assuming that’s the link they need to join the call.

 

#2: Would it please be possible, once logged in of course, to have the Zoom link which embeds the password? This is the default link generated by Zoom, and if you could please post that on the page, then many of us can just activate it with a single tap or click and be in the call immediately. This will drastically reduce people having issues on the day of, in my opinion.

 

#3: the calendar invite file on that logged in page just redirects to an error page on Zoom. Could that be fixed, please?

 

And two questions:

Q.1:  If the calendar invite was working, I’m assuming that it would contain the full Zoom link, including password hopefully, but if not, that would be preferred (note, the default calendar invite generated by Zoom does do this). It’s an implicit question inside of an assertion, to be pedantic 😊.

 

Q.2: Will this URL be the one we use moving forward? If so, I will make a recurring calendar invite for myself so I can just hit enter on the thing and be in the ARIA WG call in a matter of seconds.
