Cynthia, please see this new static role alternative for text before Thursday. Joanie worked with a number of us, including James Craig. I would like to put this out for CFC with a 2-3 day turn around. Either it is in or it is out. If it is in then we put it in the last call draft.  We need to lock down ARIA 1.1.

 - We had voted to move the text role to ARIA 2.0
 - Despite this, it’s loss was problematic for Apple. Joanie worked with a number of us to address the broad number of issues including limiting its use and addressing User Agent issues pertaining to interactive content. 
 - Group needs to decide if this is in or out for 1.1.
