RE: 7-day CfC: make spinbutton composite - closes 22 June

I’m not opposed to making spinbutton composite, my concern is if there is enough time to do so for 1.1.

For example, here is the spec text for spinbutton currently:
http://www.w3.org/TR/2016/WD-wai-aria-practices-1.1-20160317/#h-spinbutton

Here is what the APG says spinbuttons have historically been built as including referenced samples that show spinbutton usage as not being composite:
http://www.w3.org/TR/2016/WD-wai-aria-practices-1.1-20160317/#h-spinbutton

So for this to work, all of the same effort that Matt did for role=combobox would need to be done here too, including where to put aria-valuemin, aria-valuemax, aria-valuenow, aria-valuetext, and to determine which element receives focus and what is represented and how this is conveyed in the accessibility tree, and it would have to be done in such a way as to not break what currently is supported in the spec if done as it states so that compliance checkers would not flag the current way of doing this as being not supported in 1.1.
