Claims about potential for misuse could be made against other, well established features of ARIA, for example aria-label or aria-describedby.
Let's confine this discussion to any fine tuning that may be necessary in the specification to ensure consistency of implementation, and take up concerns about potential misuse in the guidance offered to authors, where such issues should legitimately be addressed.
