In the the sentence 
Systems may rewrite Annotations to instead use this pattern, rather 
than maintaining the bodyText form.

It is not immediately clear what "this pattern" means. I would change 
to:
Systems may rewrite Annotations to instead use Textual Body, rather 
than maintaining the bodyText form.
