:-1: We discussed naming, and the argument doesn't bring any new evidence, nor do the suggestions capture that the role is the role that the body (or target) plays in the Annotation. It would be internally confusing with motivation, which is worse than being externally confusing with a mostly unrelated specification. We don't have an HTML serialization, and so the risk of conflict is zero ... we simply wouldn't use the role attribute. The role is not intended to strictly be used for specific processing or presentation requirements.
