Davis thanks for the additional clarification this supports requirements for supporting permissions that include groups, possibly other requirements. We might want to list the implications. regards, Frederick Frederick Hirsch Co-Chair, W3C Web Annotation WG www.fjhirsch.com @fjhirsch > On Jun 10, 2015, at 8:38 PM, Salisbury, Davis - Hoboken <dsalisbury@wiley.com> wrote: > > Hi All, > > I can see scenarios where this could certainly be useful, and in regards to typical instructor scenarios, I think they can get quite complex. While courses might be kept relatively separate, items within them, let's say a particular question for a problem set, might be used in multiple courses. One scenario that might come into play here would be that an instructor wanted to make an annotation that applied to the question in all of the courses/instances. The annotation would of course need to target the question across the courses, which as noted would be difficult to manage track, but as far as an annotation targeting something that would apply in multiple courses, questions is certainly one item. It would hypothetically be easier for the instructor to make the one annotation that applied to each use/location of the question than to make individual annotations for each. > > Sorry if that is convoluted, but just trying to provide some context and suggest that I think there is good room for discussion here. > > Thanks, > Davis Salisbury > > -----Original Message----- > From: Frederick Hirsch [mailto:w3c@fjhirsch.com] > Sent: Wednesday, June 10, 2015 10:10 AM > To: Swenson, Kyrce > Cc: W3C Public Annotation List; Matthew Haas > Subject: Re: Educational Publishing Use Case > > Kryce > > Thank you for sharing the educational publishing use case. Seems this would be simpler to manage and track, especially if the instructor would want to easily track the level of student participation on a per course basis. > > Is the take-away from this case that annotations need to allow user control over detailed permissions for others? > > regards, Frederick > > Frederick Hirsch > > www.fjhirsch.com > @fjhirsch > >> On Jun 3, 2015, at 9:56 AM, Swenson, Kyrce <kyrce.swenson@pearson.com> wrote: >> >> Please find attached some information regarding use cases around containers and user permissions, created by Matt Haas and myself. >> >> This describes a common use case in educational publishing.
