# Attendees Shervin, Behnam, Waseem Daoud (Netflix) # Notes ## Introductions ## On objectives of the task force: * Importance of Arabic script as the second most used writing system worldwide * Lack of good resources in English which cover text layout topics * A document with relevant recommendations and references which can be used to make informed decisions about Arabic text layout. * Get people from various countries who read and write in Arabic script involved * Initial focus: Text layout in publications in Arabic language and Persian language. Will extend to others as more contributors join. ## * Introducing Text Layout Requirement documents (jlreq, ilreq, klreq, and clreq) * Walk through document structure and topic keywords * Behnam introduced “Proposal for Arabic Script Root Zone LGR” produced by ICANN Task Force on Arabic Script IDN (TF-AIDN) which was recently published. * Who can be invited to contribute? ** Interest and knowledge in matters of publication in Arabic script ** Willing to do any needed field research ** Willing to contribute text and text review work for the document ** Researching the publication styles and best practices of different publication houses of the countries using Arabic script. Focus on contemporary practices as well as older ones. Contemporary practices can be affected by lack of support in desktop publishing tools. ** Each existing topic keyword can turn into one section. We can split and merge sections as we go. ** Ideally individual contributors can pick one of topic keywords, do the research and provide some text which then would be reviewed and worked on by others. We’ll learn what’s the best method organically as we go. ## Logistics: * Changing the time of the meetings. Waiting for more participants to decide. # Actions * Waseem to research any existing style-guides or any published documents (preferably books) which can be used as reference. * Wasseem to contact potential contributors. * Behnam to send pull request to add more description to topic keywords. * Shervin to send invitation to participate through the mailing list and to some contacts who previously expressed interest.
