Hinton on quitting Google (reportedly) says *In the short term, he fears the technology will mean that people will “not be able to know what is true anymore” because of the proliferation of fake images, videos and text, he said.* *But in the future, AI systems could eventually learn unexpected, dangerous behaviour, and that such systems will eventually power killer robots. He also warned that the technology could cause harmful disruption to the labour market.* https://www.independent.co.uk/tech/google-ai-hinton-google-quits-b2330443.html The problem of knowing the truth is amplified possibly to disastrous consequences with AI but in essence, knowing and understanding truth pertains the human condition. Deceit is the way of the world, especially in the age when incredibly advanced IT is used to spread disinformation etc etc. But it is also a human trait, we deceive ourselves, and others, in many small things throughout our lives. Truth has to first to be grasped within, and then maybe technology can evolve from our understanding
