Re: Proposal for a definition and literature review paper for "open, inclusive and ethical use of AI"

Dear Milton, Mari Carmen,

Thanks for sharing. I would be interested in collaborating on such a paper.
What I am not sure is whether only literature review will be enough.

As part of a working group on FAIR for research software (hosted by FORCE
11, ReSA and RDA), we have discussed a definition of research software. We
had some online meetings to guide the discussion with some questions and
examples as there was much debate on the subject. I would expect a similar
situation with open, inclusive and ethical use of AI.

May I suggest you define a deadline for people to express their interest in
the paper you have proposed and then start a work plan with them? In that
way, you can know who you could count on.

If this is ok with you, I would like to share this email with some people
from the RDA and ELIXIR Europe that might be interested in the topic? At
RDA, we recently started a discussion on FAIR for machine learning and I
think this discussion would nicely fit there. Now, including discussions on
the topic will more likely make the writing process longer than only
reviewing literature but could bring a more community-based/agreed point of
view. ELIXIR Europe has been working on some recommendations on Data,
Optimization, Model and Evaluation for machine learning (
https://dome-ml.org/ and https://arxiv.org/abs/2006.16189). Also, some
people from the national research institutes consortium in Germany would be
interested.

Kind regards,
