Custom font creation via Inkscape and some other tool?

Hi all,

I am wondering if this pipeline would be any good for the font creation task
we have: apparently you can create 'SVG fonts' with Inkscape [1] and then
use some other tool to convert the 'SVG font' into a standard OTF/TTF font.

Both Inkscape and FontForge are open source (I think maybe Russell already
tried FontForge, but perhaps not quite in this way?)

Best regards,

Matthew
