Re: introductions

Hi all

I’m UX Research Lead with the Paciello Group, and as part of that role I do a lot of work with Sarah Horton on supporting educational organisations integrating accessibility into UX strategy and activity. It’s through this work that we realised there was an opportunity for a W3C Community Group to focus on accessible online learning.

Before joining TPG in 2013, I spent over 13 years at the University of Dundee, in Scotland, wearing a number of hats—first as a Masters student, then as researcher, consultant and teacher, specialising in accessibility and inclusive design.

I’m also involved in the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) Research and Development Working Group (RDWG) [1], which aims to connect W3C’s web standards work with academic and industrial research in accessibility.

So I still have a strong interest in accessibility and inclusion in an educational context, and I’m really looking forward to working with members of this new group in exploring the area of web standards and accessibility as applied to online learning.

The next step will be to ask group members to complete a short survey asking some questions about topics for discussion and preferences for group discussion methods, so look out for more details of that soon!

All the best
Dave
