The IESG has received a request from the HTTP WG (httpbis) to consider the following document: - 'Cookies: HTTP State Management Mechanism' <draft-ietf-httpbis-rfc6265bis-19.txt> as Proposed Standard The IESG plans to make a decision in the next few weeks, and solicits final comments on this action. Please send substantive comments to the last-call@ietf.org mailing lists by 2025-02-11. Exceptionally, comments may be sent to iesg@ietf.org instead. In either case, please retain the beginning of the Subject line to allow automated sorting. Abstract This document defines the HTTP Cookie and Set-Cookie header fields. These header fields can be used by HTTP servers to store state (called cookies) at HTTP user agents, letting the servers maintain a stateful session over the mostly stateless HTTP protocol. Although cookies have many historical infelicities that degrade their security and privacy, the Cookie and Set-Cookie header fields are widely used on the Internet. This document obsoletes RFC 6265. The file can be obtained via https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-httpbis-rfc6265bis/ No IPR declarations have been submitted directly on this I-D.
