FWIW; I have seen it used in a number of real-world contexts. Wikipedia may not be the best reference, but its page on 418 [1] links to several instances of actual use if you want running code to justify an IANA registration for the status, methods, scheme, headers and media-type's outlined in the two teapot RFC's.
