That SIP subscription spec does have some similar elements to PubSubHubbub (e.g., fat pings), but it's heavily reliant on SIP for its mechanics. I'd like to think that what we're trying to define here with PSHB is a simpler, more stand-alone publish/subscribe protocol over simple HTTP. PSHB's current reliance on Atom/RSS is to promote bootstrapping of a common use-case, but isn't necessary long-term. -Brett
