Therefore, servers should be aware of the capabilities of user agents when they send complex cookies that use this specification. If a request is received from a user agent whose behavior with respect to cookies is unknown, a server can determine its compatibility with this specification by first returning a simple non-persistent Set-Cookie response; it should then examine the Cookie header of any subsequent request.
