I thought that we had found some other ways of achieving what the
original authors had wanted with the 'bytes' suggestion to the point
where draft-luotonen-http-url-byterange-00.txt might be abandoned.

Primarily, the issue was that what with content negotiation and
changes in media type, packing the 'bytes' into the URL wasn't the
best way to express this request.

I think that's why the draft wasn't updated. So why are you
implementing it?
