    I think that we are not under any moral obligation to provide users with
    stand-alone URLs to particular versioned resources.
    In regular http, you typically link to a URL without any guarantees that it
    will still reach the resource in the future.  If a versioning unaware
    client wants some URL to a versioned resource, a versioning aware friend
    can navigate to the versioned resource, and then bind it into a collection.
    The resulting bind will have the same guarantees that any regular resource
    URL would provide (i.e., very few).  The versioning-unaware client can then
    follow the bindings.
