Jeff said: ] Anyway, I think what this means is that anyone trying to cache ] the results of queries to Web-search engines is likely to be ] disappointed. The reason I have been pursuing the topic of caching the results of queries is that I keep hearing the claim that more and more web pages are being dynamically generated as a result of queries -- pages which formerly used to be the vanilla-flavored "file in the file system" type. I'm not saying that the predictions are true or false, but it motivates me to want to make sure that the protocol allows such things to be cached, just in case in comes true. Otherwise, the overall cachability of the Web might decline, when we in fact need more things to be more cachable in order to scale enough to keep up with the growth. Paul
