Well, "federated identity" is a big thing these days.  XKMS makes it 
feasible, by having all clients in Enterprise A trust their local XKMS 
server, so hooking in Enterprise B makes a single point of configuration 
and coordination, rather than modifying everyone in both A and B to know 
about each other.
