My official bio is at http://faculty.olin.edu/~las; almost everything else can be found by pointer-chasing from there. What you probably really need to know is: Ph.D. from Brown University, 1990, on nonmonotonic logic/knowledge representation. On the faculty at MIT (EECS, AI Lab, LCS) from 1990-2001; work includes a very broad range, but most relevant here are info retrieval/info mgmt/software agent work and subsequent collaborations with W3C on the Semantic Web. Left MIT in summer 2000 to become a founding faculty member of a brand new engineering school, the Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering. Edited original DAML-ONT (more recently DAML+OIL) docs.
