It's sad to see such a widely respected defender of open standards succumb to the greed and paranoia of some of its members. W3C is also sending out a dangerous message: patented technology is OK. I hope W3C members realize what this could do to intellectual freedom in general on the Web, in software development and elsewhere. Please reconsider!
