Please say no to patented tech

Why shouldn't great ideas patented or not make their way into W3C standards?

Don't say it.  I have a patent on that thought.  Shh.  That one too.

1 - The patent process is broken.
2 - The web is all about open communication.  Patents, especially software 
patents, fly in tha face of open communication.

The goals of the W3C require technologies free from the legal entanglements 
that arrise with patented software.     "1.  Universal Access:" is not 
possible when one party determines when and how a technology can be used.

Please do the right thing.
