Patents should not have a place in the standards process!

This is a farce and huge threat to the future of networked communications.  Don't do it!   This is particuarly important in the wake of 9-11-01.  A closed system of interoperation will hurt the abillity of the technology community to adequately respond to the needs of our nation and the world.
