What's the latest on SSL and libwww?

I'm at a point where I need to add SSL capabilities to my client.  From
the archives, I see that there was an SSL module around for a while but
that it was removed due to export concerns.  Who knows the latest word
on this?  Does it make any difference that I need this for use in
Canada/US only?  Does it make any difference that I'm willing to help
debug it?  :-)
