Why did statistics change?

How come getServerLoad(),  getFreeThreadCount(),  getIdleThreadCount() ,
getTotalThreadCount() in HttpdStatistics all got changed to return -1 in
Alpha5? I see that there is some commented out code to do the "right"
thing.
