Who cares of irrelevant instance data nodes?

Hi,

nodes with relevant='false' are not not serialized for submission (chapter
6.1.4).

What happens if an XPath expression such as sum() is used? Should irrelevant
nodes be ignored?

Does minOccurs and maxOccurs take irrelevant nodes into account?
