Insert Node into String?

Hello,

I want to insert a link in a text node. ATM I copy the text before the string I want to convert to a link into another node, then I append the link, then the following again as text.

I wondered if there is a function to do this "on the fly". However it didn´t work with insertNode. Are there other possibilities?
